    ABOUT THE WEBINAR

We have learned from world-class athletes at the top of their games, like Naomi Osaka, Michael Phelps, and Simone Biles, how they must prioritize their mental, as well as physical health. Working in healthcare is a stressful environment on a good day. A leadership style that includes “put on your game face” and “tough it out” will struggle to meet the needs of their patients and the practice while also addressing the mental health needs of their employees. In this session, we focus on concrete strategies practice leaders can implement to make an immediate impact.

    Objectives:

    - Describe the factors bringing employee mental health to the forefront of HR discussions

    - Identify strategies for improving individual mental health

    - Develop practice-wide improvements for improving employee mental health

    ABOUT THE WEBINAR

Mental health concerns increasingly surface in primary care and other outpatient medical settings. Yet with nearly two-thirds of the U.S. population living in a mental health professional shortage area, many patients struggle to access timely behavioral health services. As a result, approximately 80% of patients who begin their mental health journey in primary care ultimately receive the majority — if not all — of their mental health care there. While primary care providers and other outpatient clinicians want to support their patients as effectively as possible, limited time, resources, and access to specialists often make it difficult to deliver optimal care, placing significant pressure on already stretched clinical teams.

The Psychiatric Collaborative Care Model (CoCM) has emerged as one of the most evidence-based and scalable approaches to integrating behavioral health into medical settings. Research has shown that the model can improve patient outcomes, reduce provider burden, and create sustainable reimbursement opportunities for practices. In this session, attendees will learn how collaborative care works in practice and how outpatient organizations can operationalize integrated behavioral health programs. The discussion will explore key program components, staffing models, reimbursement pathways, and implementation considerations, along with lessons learned from organizations that have successfully embedded behavioral health support within their care teams. Participants will leave with practical insights into how collaborative care can expand access to mental health care, improve outcomes, and better support clinicians who are often on the front lines of managing behavioral health needs.

    Learning Objectives:

    1.      Describe the core components of the Psychiatric Collaborative Care Model and how it supports integrated behavioral health delivery.

    2.      Understand the role outpatient clinicians play in identifying and managing common behavioral health conditions such as depression and anxiety.

    3.      Identify operational and staffing considerations for implementing collaborative care programs in outpatient settings.

    4.      Recognize reimbursement pathways and financial considerations associated with collaborative care services.

    5.    Evaluate key factors organizations should consider when determining how to operationalize an integrated behavioral health program.

    ABOUT OUR SPEAKER

Jesse Weinberg is the Founder and CEO of April Health, a company focused on expanding access to mental health care through integrated care models delivered in partnership with outpatient medical practices. April Health works with clinics and health systems to implement the Psychiatric Collaborative Care Model (CoCM), an evidence-based approach that embeds behavioral health care management and psychiatric support within medical settings to improve patient outcomes and access to care.

Jesse founded April Health after personally experiencing the challenges many patients face when seeking mental health support through the healthcare system. During a period of significant anxiety, he sought help through his primary care provider but struggled to access timely behavioral health care, ultimately delaying the support he needed. That experience highlighted the gap between where patients often first seek help for mental health concerns and where behavioral health services are available. Motivated by this experience, Jesse launched April Health to help outpatient practices integrate behavioral health services directly into their care teams, allowing patients to receive timely, coordinated support within the settings where they already receive care.
