Studies show 1 in 5 people struggling with mental health seeks the support they need; the help-seeking rates for physicians and other health professionals are even lower. Burnout and depression are highly prevalent. This increased distress is associated with medical errors and poorer patient care and, if left undetected and untreated, can lead to the tragic outcome of suicide. This session will introduce a mental health resource that is free, anonymous, interactive, and can become part of your group or organization’s comprehensive mental health and suicide prevention strategy for medical staff.

    About our presenter:
Brenda Williams-Denbo raises awareness and funding for the TMF Physician's Health Program, a nonprofit helping Tennessee health professionals struggling with addiction, mental/emotional illness, behavioral issues, stress/burnout, and more. That includes building and maintaining close relationships with supporters in the healthcare community and telling our story to the general public. Brenda helps to oversee the Tennessee Professional Screening Questionnaire -- an anonymous online screening tool for the health professionals we serve. Brenda's previous experience includes 15+ years as a journalist/reporter, 6+ years in PR/marketing, and 9 years as a magazine editor. She is a past-chair and former board member of the Tennessee chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, still serving as a volunteer and as co-chair of the AFSP's Out of the Darkness Community Walk for Nashville.
